Pastor Randal A. Poppe
Pastor Poppe was born in Dodgeville, Wisconsin on July 19, 1957. Growing up on a dairy farm in rural Highland, he attended grade school and high school at Highland, graduating in 1975. He graduated in 1979 from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. After college,he attended Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana graduating in 1983, having served his vicarage year at Bethlehem Lutheran Church In Saginaw, Michigan.
During college, he met his wife Cinda Scribner who was from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. She graduated in December 1980 with a degree in Elementary Education. Pastor and Cinda were married at his home church, Christ Lutheran, at Highland on June 27, 1981. They have 5 children, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, Jonathan, and Nathanael.
Pastor Poppe's responsibilities as Administrative Pastor at Grace include of course administrative duties, as well as regular preaching, teaching, pastoral visits, etc. He is also pastoral advisor to the Boards of Parish Fellowship, Stewardship, and Trustees. Since 2003, he has served on the Camp LuWiSoMo Board of Directors. He also volunteers in various church and community activities.
Pastor Poppe's hobbies include gardening, genealogy, and woodworking.
Pastor Thomas E. Chryst
As of August, 2012, Pastor Chryst began service as "Strategic Mission Developer" with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Serving as a church planter, he is the first LCMS missionary to Singapore. He and his family remain members of Grace, but no longer serves as our Associate Pastor. You can read about his work and find ways to help support it here.
A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Pastor Chryst went to St. James Lutheran Church and Elementary School in Overlea, MD. He then attended Baltimore Lutheran High School, graduating in 1991.
While at college in New York, he met his wife Brenda (nee Miert) Chryst, of Greenwich, Connecticut. She graduated from Concordia College one year ahead with a degree in Social Work - Church Service. The two were married at Brenda's home church, St. Paul Lutheran in Byram, Connecticut, on June 15, 1996.
The Chryst family also includes daughters Bailey, Helena, and Morgan.
Pastor Tom's Hobbies include football, chess (and games of all kinds), golf, reading, and spending time with his family.
